Is it actually possible to get paid to walk in the uk?
Walking is good for you, your health and mental health as well as the environment. Now you can genuinely earn money by walking too! In this blog I am going to tell you how to get paid to walk.
As someone who is trying to take every opportunity to reduce costs and increase income, being paid to walk using simple and free apps was something I have been keen to explore.
Sometimes finding apps that are accessible from the UK is tricky, many of them are US based and I have downloaded SO many apps and been disappointed. Many of the apps that you get paid for walking on wont allow me to get paid to walk in the UK. So, to save you the time and disappointment, I have a list of tried and tested ones for you.
I have also included some codes and links that will help you get started to be paid to walk. These will give you some free bonus points that can be added towards your first cash out. You can use these on these recommended apps where you get paid to walk.
Before we get into the free app to get paid to walk uk guide, I want to share a bit more on how these apps work generally and how exactly you get paid to walk in the UK.
Get Paid to Walk in the UK
One of the first questions I am usually asked about getting paid to walk, is do you actually get a cash payout. The answer to this is, sometimes you do, some of the apps offer a transfer of pounds into your PayPal or bank account to be used as you wish.
There are multiple ways of being paid for the steps you (or your dog!) take, and this varies from cash sent to a PayPal account, cash into your bank, or vouchers for popular stores you can spend the money in.
For the purposes of this review, I have only considered apps to recommend who offer either cash, or a voucher payout for an every day retailer. A retailer where you can use it for something you would be buying anyway, like food or clothing.
The way I look at it is even when an app only offers an amazon voucher, it is still worth my time using the app to get paid to walk because I can use the vouchers for things I would buy anyway. This then means I can save the money I would have spent if I didn’t have the voucher.
For example, on Amazon you can purchase household or cleaning goods. Lots of the apps have food vouchers available for stores including Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s. Many have clothing retailers which will be very handy to many, especially those with children.
I am certain you will find something useful no matter who you are, it IS worth downloading these apps to make money walking.
Free Apps Guide
I have personally tried, tested and been paid using these apps and so can vouch for them being awesome apps for you to get paid to walk in the UK. I have only included apps I trust, and ones I have had no issues cashing out of.
I will share what I do and don’t like about these apps, and some of the recommendations on how to receive the money you have been paid for walking.
I have listed some of the retailers where vouchers are offered, I will try and keep this up to date, but I have noticed sometimes the retailers change, so this may no longer be 100% accurate.
If you haven’t found me from my social media, a little bit about me I’m Yasmine and there is a little more about me and my money joinery on my home page.

Macadam
First up, a new app Macadam and one I have used to get paid to walk in the UK for the last month, Macadam is super easy to use, and I have already built up over £4 of points.
One thing you do need to remember to do throughout the day and at the end of the day is to claim your points, simply open the app and swipe to collect. If you forget to do this before midnight the points will be lost and the counter reset.
You simply download the free app, set yourself up as a user (the graphics are so cute but you can add a photo!) and Macadam will link to the steps recorded in your phone so you wont have to keep the app open during your walks. This will preserve your phone battery life – something I think is critical when considering if apps like this are worth using.
Macadam says “Join a community of over 3 million users who have unlocked a unique way to earn rewards effortlessly”.
A Quick Look on the free app at the time of writing tells me you can cash out in the form of actual cash and vouchers for stores including Amazon, Nike, Decathlon and Airbnb.
Download the Macadam app for free to get paid to walk in the UK now! Use my code X8NMNN for 1000 free coins to start your collecting!
I’d also love it if you give me a follow – I am constantly being put to shame by how few steps I am doing compared to many of the people who have followed me so far!
There are extra opportunities to make money in the app aside from being paid to walk, there are games offering bonus point, totally up to you if you decide to play. For me, the walking is enough to make this free app worth downloading.
Cashwalk
My second recommendation for how you can get paid to walk in the UK with a free app is Cashwalk.
I have been using this free app for a shorter amount of time than the others, so the fact I am happy to recommend already hopefully tells you it’s good!
Catwalk is available on Android and iOs, I have a referral code that will get you 100 coins to start your earning off and you can download the app here or enter code CP2RB for your free coins.
The app might seem US based as you download and set up, but rest assured it will work and let you get paid to walk in the UK.
The options for cashing out the money you have earned from walking are gift cards, but as with all my recommendations they are gift cards for useful every day shops and products.
I believe this is the only way other than actual cash that this is truly a way to get paid to walk in the UK. Vouchers range from Boots, Amazon, Sainsbury’s and other hughstreet retailers.
Biscuit
Last but not least, this is actually my favourite free app to use to get paid to walk in the UK – however, it’s down here because its only applies to those who have dogs.
If you do have a dog, you could have all three of the free apps I talk about in this article running at once, making you 3 times the money from walking!
Biscuit App is such a nice app, they want to encourage dogs getting their recommended exercise each day by incentivising you by allowing you to get paid to walk in the UK with your dog!
You earn biscuits each time you walk your dog, you enter your dogs age, breed and weight so you are given a recommended walking amount, my dogs are small so we have 2 x 30 mins walks (or we can combine them) as our daily goal.
You get paid to walk, but also get bonus points for keeping a streak!
Getting paid by the app comes in the form of vouchers or discounts. At the time of writing vouchers include Marks & Spencers, Waitrose, Tesco, Asda, Boots and Amazon, as well as some more specific retailers.
If you are keen to get paid to walk in the UK with your dog, and want to download the app using my link you will get a bonus 50 biscuits to start your collecting off.
Summary: Can you get paid to walk in the UK?
The answer in my opinion is a resounding YES! Yes, you can get paid for walking in the UK! For once we get the benefits of these apps to get paid for walking like they often get in the USA.
Make sure to check in on the apps and ensure you’re collecting all the points you can, and I think someone who walks an average of 8000 can make £5-£10 per month from my recommendations above, and if you have a dog you can earn an additional £5 – thats up to £15 per month you could get paid to walk in the UK!
My favourite and the one I think is the best paid to walk app has to be Macadam for everyone, and Biscuit if you own a Dog – but that’s mainly for the cuteness!
I’ll continue to use these apps, and be sure to repot back if I find any more that are great ways to get paid to walk in the UK – drop me a message on social media or email me to let me know if you find any, I’d love to check them out!
